Skye Asta Devine Schirmer is a Brooklyn based painter and printmaker. She co-runs Vega Studios in Bedstuy with friends Rachel Chicaguala and Katie Hector where they promote inclusive and affordable space with four other artists. Schirmer wears many hats as a childcare professional, Alewife farm employee, fabricator etc. As an eco-conscious city dweller Schirmer focuses on her own experience with gender inequality and the environment in context with the current political climate. She has shown throughout Boston, the Bay Area, Brooklyn, and North Carolina. She holds a BFA in printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has worked in and with Kala Art Institute in Berkeley California; and Trestle and Brooklyn Art Space in Brooklyn New York. She is has also been a member of Brooklyn Art Space, the San Francisco Women’s Artists and the California Society of Printmakers. You can also find her on Adam Yokell’s Foundwork platform here.
